Co-existence: Salmon Memories from Alaska

I was in Stewart, Alaska, along with many thousands of Chinook salmon, and a dozen or so grizzly bears all mingling together amongst several hundred people.  I thought that this was a very natural co-existence of species that have been sharing the coastal habitat for millennia.  This also reminded me that we as a species have decimated many runs of salmon and eliminated much of the grizzly’s habitat. Hopefully we will come to our senses soon and preserve both salmon and grizzly, and ultimately—ourselves.
