Location: Fraser Basin Project Summary
Things are changing from people working in separate boxes and organizational silos to more partnerships and shared projects. This goes along with the trends such as decreasing government resources, growth of non-profit sector, increased desire for co-management, direction to take more of an ecosystem approach, and work on collaborative watershed governance. As old barriers and structures become ineffective at meeting this need, people are recognizing they need new systems that enable quick access to information, new tools for collaboration, and more connection with people who share commitment, expertise and/or resources in their area of interest. The project will a) facilitate an on-line system allowing partners to connect and communicate with each other, work together on shared projects and share information (find and access info/data that they need); b) determine partners’ priority information needs and make the information accessible; c) evaluate different methods for identifying and allocating funding to high priority habitats; d) host forums, meetings, and e-newsletters for people to find out who’s who and keep up to date on what is happening; e) work with funders and seniour policy makers regarding their role in integrated information; f) develop the AIP organization.
