Project type Habitat
FSWP funding source Living Rivers
Grant amount $35,000
Total project value $164,000

Location: Upper Fraser, Williams Lake, BC

Project Summary

In the fall of 2006, Ducks Unlimited Canada initiated a project to ensure a sustained and regulated water supply in Minton Creek, by reconstructing a water regulating headgate at the initiation of Minton Creek at Big Creek.

The headgate will secure water flow into Minton Creek from Big Creek, which will improve salmonid habitat in conjunction with the installment of a fish ladder in Minton Creek by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). Regulation of water flows is critical to maintaining watershed values for fish and waterfowl, as this area includes 30km of salmonid habitat for coho and chinook salmon.
