Project Summary

This project provides a necessary compliment to the pilot testing of the Stewardship Works Core Funding Project, and is focused on the following key objectives:

1. To determine the best approaches to supporting stewardship in a basin characterized by biophysical, social, economic, and administrative complexity and uncertainty;
2. To identify the current “reach” and scope of stewardship initiatives across all orders of government, volunteer sectors, commercial and industrial sectors
3. To briefly summarize and provide a realistic assessment of needs related to core capacity needs of stewardship and conservation groups beyond core funding; e.g. training, strategic planning, project management, partnership building etc.
4. To identify approaches to capacity building through research within the Basin and other jurisdictions, world-wide.
5. To develop a regionally supported conceptual framework for stewardship, building on the objectives above; and
6. To integrate the above into a strategic business plan for stewardship in the Fraser Basin and throughout BC.
