Project Summary

Instream operations of ATV and other recreational vehicles have a negative impact on the juvenile steelhead, IFR coho and early run chinook rearing in the river. We propose to start an information campaign to bring awareness of the importance of preserving fish habitat in the Coldwater River. This will be done using interviews, signage at attending meetings with ATV clubs. Our goals for this project will be to: 1. Protect fish habitat in the upper Coldwater River from damage caused by human activity, 2. educate recreational users on the potential for their activities to damage critical fish habitat in the river 3. Monitor and record the levels or recreational use adjacent to the river 4. LONG TERM GOAL: to achieve a reduction of human impacts on this environment.
