Project Summary

Langley Environmental Partners Society (LEPS) will be promoting the ’Think Salmon‘ program in the Langley municipality utilizing innovative outreach techniques such as local newspapers and community advertising. LEPS will also focus on fostering community involvement in stream and riparian protection, salmon conservation and habitat restoration through a series of stewardship events called ‘Salmon Saturdays.’

As the Township of Langley encompasses 11 major watersheds and is under increasing developmental pressures, it is essential that salmonids and their habitat are protected and conserved. By sending a strong public awareness message regarding the ‘watershed concept’ and potential impacts of daily activities on local streams, LEPS’ Think Salmon project will engage the public and increase common knowledge of the dangers salmonids and their habitat are facing. Through increased knowledge and habitat restoration activities, this project will lead to better protection and conservation methods for salmonids in Langley.
