Project Summary

In spring of 2006, the Adams River Salmon Society hosted Salute to the Sockeye, a premier world class event that provided partners with global exposure by drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors to an area that is considered a showcase for Pacific sockeye, coho, and chinook salmon. This project provided educational information to elementary school students, as well as to the general public through an interpretive program focusing on salmon issues and concerns about fish, fish habitat, sustainable development, and stewardship. Salute to the Sockeye 2006 promoted multicultural aspects of society, and aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of the importance of fish and their habitat.
