Project Summary

In 2006, the British Columbia Conservation Foundation (BCCF) assessed and mapped the current distribution of headwater salmonid use in the Nicola watershed based on field observation, obstruction locations and water temperature data. The emphasis on headwater assessment arose from observations that some salmonids prefer these near pristine parts of the drainages. The headwater areas for spawning and rearing are very limited in the Nicola watershed, and information regarding habitat and fish distribution, as well as water temperatures for key life stages is unknown. The findings of this project will be summarized in a final report for delivery to agencies and key stakeholders in the Nicola watershed.
