Total project value $111,380

Location: Fraser Valley, Hope, BC

Project Summary

In 2006, British Columbia Conservation Foundation (BCCF) commenced a habitat rehabilitation project in Silverhope Creek to enhance Pacific salmon populations. Due to extensive logging activities and a highway running parallel to the creek, bank instability and bedload movement have caused the loss of salmon habitat and loss of log jams. This project saw the installation of numerous large woody debris structures to increase instream complexity, increase pool depth, and create cover for juvenile and adult salmonids. It is expected that 700 additional steelhead smolts will leave the Silverhope Creek each year as a result of this habitat restoration project.
