Community: Fraser Valley Joe Kambeitz has been putting his skills and talents to work for salmon his whole life. He began his career with Fisheries and Oceans Canada in 1968 as a graphic artist. Now a community advisor for DFO, Joe supports the stewardship community in his area, but that’s not all ... He’s a Northwest Coast Salish artist and jewellery carver; a musician; and an avid fly fisherman. Often, his jewellery pieces are auctioned off to support salmon conservation. If you’re out walking in the woods with Joe, watch out—he’s also a wild mushroom expert!

Determined to support students in need wanting careers sustaining Pacific salmon, Joe began fundraising 18 years ago for a bursary. The Stewardship Community Bursary was launched in 2005 and is managed by Pacific Salmon Foundation. Posted by Aileen Penner on 9/6/06

Hi Joe
Flag as inappropriate?I was very impressed with your attitude and knowledge at Campbell Hatchery last week. I have spoken to Phil Millegan & Ron Meadley about “morale problem” in hatchery. They are aware of problem. I would love to work “with” you to get this facility rolling!
Sincerely, Dave Payton
