Pulling together in the lower Fraser

Changing how we work together

Lower Fraser coho recovery

Collaborative efforts of the Pulling Together Initiative to recover lower Fraser coho address strategic planning, restoration and municipal policy.

To address the recovery of coho in the lower Fraser, a mix of planning and on-the-ground projects have led to better relationships and capacity, as well as innovation on priority issues. Forming the Pulling Together Initiative, First Nations, streamkeepers and municipal governments have collaborated on a strategic plan to recover coho and have initiated work to address fish impediments.

The Pulling Together Initiative identified as a key issue the size and quality of projects that qualify for the habitat compensation required of developers. The initiative is working to demonstrate habitat banking, which would make larger scale, higher priority projects eligible to be compensation projects.
