Do you need a fishing license for salmon, even to catch and release?

Yes. Even children need a fishing license, although their fee is waived if purchased with a paid adult license. In addition, a conservation stamp is also required to retain a salmon in tidal waters. The good news is, $1 of the stamp fee of $6.42 is donated to Pacific Salmon Foundation to support volunteers undertaking salmon recovery or education.
