King Salmon Catch San Juan Islands

By Stewardship

I have fished the San Juans for years and it’s been great but the catching is always hit or miss.  Over the Labor Day weekend, I went to my usual spot for pinks off Stuart Island and after a few hours of tossing buzz bombs we decided to take a break and enjoy the sun and a few beverages.  I noticed a little action on my line that I forgot was still in the water.  It was a pink that grabbed the line 10 feet under the boat.  So I guess the pink caught me!  After that we took one pass trolling and landed this 25# king (37” long).
