Salmon Jumping Around in West Vancouver

I have great salmon memories from last year when I went to a BBQ on the beach in West Vancouver. I don’t remember the name of the actual beach but I am hoping I will be able to add it to this story.

It was my good friend James’ birthday on September 10. For the occasion, James selected a spot where we could watch the salmon jumping out the water by the dozens. At times many salmon were jumping from the ocean and they were clearly visible, being only 100-200 feet from the shore.

I have never seen anything like it. No wonder I felt like a child watching this spectacular event. I am still wondering why the salmon behave like this. I don’t remember what my friends were saying—I was already hungover from my own birthday the night before—but it was amazing.

I can’t wait to see the salmon jumping again.

On that day on the beach, James brought salmon candy for everyone from some salmon that he caught himself throughout the summer. There we were, enjoying the sweet taste of salmon candy as we watched the hundreds of salmon all around us. It was awesome!
