Community: Upper Fraser Some time ago I read an article by some biologist who determined that the forests were part of the circle of salmon, I agree with the idea of the salmon is a primary part of the eco-system. In the article it was mentioned that when the salmon returned to their natal stream the predators were also there, especially the bears, when a young bear captured a salmon they usually removed themselves from the streambank, if they didn’t they lost their catch to a larger bear, so in effect they spread the nutrients far from the banks of the stream.
